Bird Photography

Saturday 24 May
Kuranda - 1:30pm - 2 Hours
Joshua Prieto
Photographing birds is a fun but often times challenging endeavour!
During the event, your instructor will present the best ways to compose and expose your images, as well as some key skills in how to approach your feathered subjects in a wild or captive setting.

Whether you are new to bird photography or a seasoned pro, this event is a great opportunity to hone your skills, learn from others, and enjoy the company of like-minded individuals who share your passion for bird photography.

Key outcomes are better familiarity with photographing wildlife in a captive setting, paying attention to exposure and composition. better preparing you to snap your favourite subjects in the wild.

This class will be presented at Birdworld Kuranda, which houses a variety of Australian and exotic bird species in a large aviary. Captive birds allow us a degree of creative and access that can be difficult with wild subjects. The skills learned can later be used when photographing your favourite wild birds!

Park entry is included in the cost of the class.

Loved the event, it provided me with more confidence navigating my camera and equipment. I captured a few fantastic images and cannot wait to add more to my collection! Josh provided great guidance to everyone and dedicated time to everyone, despite the large number of people attending the event.

The event was good, informative to how to get the best photo, pity the clouds come over, but they did disperse later in the evening... I did get some good photos from it as well... Of the sessions I have been to, Josh is very helpful and tries to get to everyone to assist, there was a few of us and I found that I was standing waiting for assistance, not a long time, maybe less people or two assistants, depending on the size of the group...

Thanks, Joshua, for the photography lesson. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. The class just seemed a little basic. It would be awesome if you could clarify this before any course. But thanks anyway, I had fun

I live in Clifton and walk the beach at sunrise most mornings. To share the experience with family and friends, I started taking pictures to send to the 'colder parts of the world'. I use my mobile phone - a Google Pixel 8 Pro - rather than the proper camera (mainly due to the weight). The bench is perfectly framed between the palm trees, has a great view of the ocean, and makes a great shot or two, or a dozen, or even more by now. A beautiful marina in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. I had already photographed this composition at night and at sunrise and I wanted to get a golden hour shot. Just love the purple in the clouds and the colour reflection on the water.Nikon D7500 with 18-300mm DX lensf/22, 2 secs, iso 100

I love exploring Toronto, where I've been living for a while now, with a camera, or more often just with a mobile phone. And looking for unusual angles. This place in the center of downtown on King Street always looks different depending on the weather, time of day, wind... This time I was shooting late in the evening and waiting for the flag to straighten out.Shot on a Samsung s21 mobile phone, edited in an editor Snapseed/

This shot was taken along with 3000 others images on my first ever photo shoot during Covid. I hired a model I had seen and had come to do pool shots with another Photographer and he suggested I hire her and conceptualize the shoot. I?m not a professional and had no props but I bought some fabric and I used my leaf blower to make that effect. I periodically go back to those pictures and rework them with my iPhone apps for varying effects. You can see more of my work on Instagram. That day creat

Thank you for considering my photo for Photo of the Week! I have a number of bottle brush trees in my back yard, and birds love the blossoms when they bloom in the Spring. I usually see numerous hummingbirds and sparrows, but I saw this gorgeous bird one afternoon resting in the branches. I was able to get a couple of shots off before it flew away.
